The Loddon Shire is the seventh largest municipality by area in north-ventral Victoria and covers approximately 6,700 square kilometres with a population of approximately 8,600.
Loddon is characterised by a number of small towns dispersed throughout the area. There are also many vibrant communities throughout the Loddon Shire such as Bridgewater, Boort, Inglewood, Pyramid Hill, Serpentine, Tarnagulla, and Wedderburn.

Agriculture is the major business of the Loddon Shire. The Southern areas concentrate on dryland, mixed farming enterprises, while the Northern region has a focus on large scale irrigated agriculture with horticulture and irrigated cropping being key features. Loddon offers a unique mix of natural heritage, gold history, agriculture and lifestyle which can be easily reached from Bendigo or Melbourne.
