Irrigation Expo declared a success
The Water Technology Cluster Irrigation Expo was a show case of water saving technologies for the farming community.
The recently held Water Technology Cluster Irrigation Expo in Echuca has been declared a major success by event organisers, with over 1000 people entering through the gate.
The two day event showcased all the latest irrigation technologies available and with the future of farming closely linked to water saving technology, the event was well attended by business holders and farmers.
Featuring water saving imitative from drip irrigation, to pivots, pipe and risers, pumps, automation and soil moisture monitors, visitors through the gate had an opportunity to sit down and talk with business operators and learn more about what options are available.
Ian Sobey from Center Irrigation travels the country side attending field days, marketing centre pivots and lateral movers.
He was very impressed with the expo and said his business had received some genuine enquiry.
He said it was imperative farmers were given an opportunity to explore all facets of water saving when funding for stage 2 of the On Farm Efficiency program was announced.
John Paterson from Paterson Pumps said the expo has been great because the people that were coming through the gates were all there to talk water.
Avocado growers Andrew and Ron Crossman from Torrumbarry have 700 trees under microsprays. They are looking at planting another 400 this year.
"We are pushing the boundaries climate wise with the trees and it is very important to look after them properly. We are looking at moisture probes as well and we are just here to source as much information as we can,"Andrew said.
