Aquaculture Industry in Victoria's Food Bowl

The Goulburn Murray Irrigation District is well positioned to assist as the Victorian Aquaculture Strategy identifies native fish farming in north-west Victoria and salmonid farming in north-east Victoria as having competitive natural advantages.

The strategy also identifies opportunities to integrate aquaculture into traditional farming practices and the increasing vertical integration of aquaculture operations with tourism opportunities in regional areas such as food trails.

The region's well-deserved reputation for producing clean and green food products will provide an advantage for aquaculture investments in the region.
